Getting Started

Grief and Loss Therapy in Seattle, Washington State, Tacoma, Everett, Bellingham, Spokane, Vancouver.

Starting Therapy Doesn't Have to Be Complicated

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you're navigating grief, caregiving, trauma, or a major life transition.

My goal is to make the process as simple and transparent as possible.

Step 1: Schedule a Free Consultation

We begin with a free 15-minute virtual consultation.

This is an opportunity for us to briefly discuss:

  • What brings you to therapy

  • What you're hoping to accomplish

  • Any questions you have about my approach

  • Whether we're a good fit to work together

  • Information about fees and insurance. Learn More

There is no pressure or obligation to schedule therapy after the consultation. You can schedule that here.

Step 2: Complete Intake Paperwork

If we decide to move forward, you'll receive access to a secure client portal where you'll complete:

  • Consent forms

  • Practice policies

  • Contact information

  • Intake questionnaires

Most clients complete this paperwork in about 15-20 minutes prior to their first session.

Step 3: Attend Your First Session

During our first session, we'll spend time understanding:

  • Your current concerns

  • Your history and experiences

  • Your goals for therapy

  • The strengths and resources you already have

The first session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of what it feels like to work together.

Step 4: Create a Plan Together

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all.

Together, we'll identify goals and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Depending on your situation, our work may focus on:

  • Processing grief and loss

  • Managing overwhelming emotions

  • Healing from trauma

  • Navigating caregiving challenges

  • Strengthening relationships

  • Building a meaningful future after major life changes

What Therapy Is Like With Me

Clients often describe my approach as:

  • Warm and compassionate

  • Practical and skill-focused, with the goal of always teaching something new

  • Collaborative

  • Direct when helpful

  • Grounded in research and evidence-based care

I believe therapy should be a place where you feel both supported and challenged to grow.
